Answers to common client questions about starting, maintaining and styling locs.
Initial installations typically take between three and eight hours depending on hair length, density and chosen method (backcombing, two-strand twist, palm rolling, or interlocking). We schedule time accordingly and discuss size and maintenance during consultation.
Properly installed and maintained locs do not inherently damage healthy hair. Our stylists use gentle techniques, avoid excessive tension and recommend regular maintenance and moisturizing to prevent breakage. We assess hair health first and advise the safest approach.
Maintenance frequency varies—typically every 4 to 8 weeks for retightening, depending on hair growth speed and style. Loose or interlocked locs may need different schedules. We'll create a personalized plan to keep your locs tidy and healthy between appointments.
Some chemical processes (relaxers, harsh dyes) are not recommended before or after installing locs. Gentle coloring and protective treatments can be scheduled with care. Discuss desired treatments during consultation so we can plan timing and safest options.
We offer a range from micro to large locs, various parting patterns, updos and braided or accessorized looks. Size choice affects maintenance and appearance—our consultation helps you select a style that complements your face shape, lifestyle and texture.
Wash locs every 1–2 weeks with residue-free shampoo, thoroughly rinse and squeeze out excess water. Dry completely to avoid mildew. Moisturize scalp with light oils, avoid heavy products, and sleep with a satin scarf. Follow our aftercare guidance for best results.
